Birth Works® Instructors

  • Are truly ready to be involved in an experience, rather than merely lecturing about obstetrical material.
  • Feel the experiential approach is superior to current didactical, lecture-oriented childbirth education classes.
  • Believe in the integration of the mind, body, spirit.
  • Practice the human values of truth, right action, peace, love and nonviolence in their lives.
  • Feel comfortable relating current information from medical studies that contradict routine hospital practices of using interventions and obstetrical drugs in birth.
  • See childbirth classes as a place where people can feel safe to express deeply held fears, and experience the tenderness, joy, humor, and a multitude of other emotions that exist in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
  • Are committed to providing information about birthing options and alternatives, to  instill confidence, and give encouragement to birthing parents.
